
BANNER ELK, N.C. - Union College currently holds second in the team standings at the 2008 USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike Division II National Championship after Friday's cross country event.
Zach Winn (Port Hope, Canada) finished second in the race in second place with his time of two hours, five minutes and seven seconds. Greg Gibson (Salt Lake City, Utah) followed in sixth. German (Nano) Bermudez (Louisville, Ky.) was the next Bulldog across the finish line in 11th. Brad Nelson (Carmel, Ind.) rounded out Union's top-four with a 21st-place finish.
On the women's side, Rachel Millsop (Little Rock, Ark.) posted a fourth-place finish, four minutes from the top finisher.
Appalachian State (N.C.) University leads the team standings with 166 points, 83 from both the men's and women's squads. Union sets 23 points behind with 94 points from the men's team and 49 from the women. Warren-Wilson (N.C.) College and the Colorado School of Mines share third with 137 points. Brevard (N.C.) rounded out the Top-5 with 120 points.
