FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. - Despite a strong finish, Union College ended the National Team Match Games in 33rd place this weekend.
The Bulldogs rolled their best games in the fifth and final set of Baker games Saturday, posting a pinfall of 863. However, Union finished the two-day tournament with a score of 9,242 to place 33rd out of 36 teams.
Lindenwood's (Mo.) "Mufasa" team won the event with a score of 11,556, while Wichita State (Kan.) and Newman (Kan.) took second and third, scoring 11,475 and 11,413, respectively. Lindenwood's "Simba" team and Pikeville (Ky.) rounded out the top five as they posted pinfalls of 11,395 and 11,209.
Union continuedu to show improvement as it garnered 300 bonus points during Saturday's events and 525 for the weekend. Bonus points are awarded for winning head-to-head matches.
The Bulldogs will not return to action until Jan. 17-18 when they will participate in the Hoinke Bearcat Open in Cincinnati, Ohio.
