
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. - Union College had its worst shooting performance of the season Saturday as the Lady Bulldogs saw their five-game win streak come to a screeching halt with a 78-43 Appalachian Athletic Conference loss at Milligan (Tenn.) College.
The win puts Milligan (15-9 overall) in first place with a 9-3 conference mark, while Union (16-8 overall) is now tied in second with Tennessee Wesleyan College at 8-4 in the AAC.
Shooting just 25 percent (8-of-32 shots) in the first half, Union found itself down 34-22 at the half. Things did not improve for the Lady Bulldogs in the second half as they made just 6-of-29 shots (20.7 percent) en route to the 78-43 defeat.
Union finished the game shooting 23 percent (14-of-61 shots) from the field and 22.7 percent (5-of-22 shots) from 3-point range. Meanwhile, Milligan connected on 54.2 percent (26-of-48 shots) of its shots while draining 7-of-12 shots (58.3 percent) from behind the arc.
Junior Brooke Smith (Pineville, Ky.) paced Union with 16 points and seven rebounds. No other Lady Bulldogs scored more than six points.
For Milligan, Alisha Mainer registered a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Heather Mandela and Hali Sparks chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively.
