
ST. PETERS, Mo. - Union College posted a total of six Top-15 finishes on the Thursday at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championship hosted by Lindenwood (Mo.) University. All six finals' finishes broke school records in the process.
The finals started with the women's 200-yard medley relay finishing 12th in one minute and 56.50 seconds.
The men's 200 medley relay followed with a similar 12th-place swim after a 1:40.21 swim.
Tamsin Petersen (Johannesburg, South Africa) needed 2:11.27 to finish the 200 individual medley which gave the freshman a 10th-place finish.
The Bulldogs' 800 freestyle relay squad posted an 11th-place swim with a 7:29.15 time.
Molly Fittro (Seaside, Calif.) lowered the school record she set in the preliminary down to 5:15.59 in the 500 freestyle. The time was good enough for 13th.
The women's 800 freestyle added a 14th-place finish later in the day. The quartet covered the distance in 8:25.78.
After the Thursday, the Bulldogs are tied for 10th with 22 points along with Notre Dame (Ohio) College. Biola (Calif.) University is ahead of both teams with 51 points. California Baptist University paces the men's race with 262 points with Fresno Pacific (Calif.) University second with 146 points.
The Lady Bulldogs own sole possession of 13th behind 27 points. Union trails Berea (Ky.) College by three points entering Friday. California Baptist owns the lead with 209 points. Savannah College of Art and Design (Ga.) trails by 15 points.
Friday's prelim races start at 11 a.m.
