
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Union College stands in sixth place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference's Duard Walker All-Sports Trophy, the organization announced Thursday upon completion of the basketball seasons.
Union has a total of 150 points up to this point. The volleyball team scored 70 of the points while women's basketball provided 20 points and men's basketball added 60 points.
King (Tenn.) College, the defending champion, extended the lead with 530 points with Milligan (Tenn.) College in second with 285 points. Covenant (Ga.) College jumped to third, owning 195 points. Bryan (Tenn.) College is 15 points behind Covenant and Montreat (N.C.) College rounds out the Top-5.
Behind Union is Tennessee Wesleyan College, Bluefield (Va.) College and UVa-Wise from seventh to ninth, respectively.
The Duard Walker All-Sports Trophy was established in 1999 as a way of recognizing member institutions with the most successful all-around sports program for the year. Member colleges compete in fifteen sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, track and field, and tennis for men; and, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field and volleyball for women.
Points in the standings were based on Top-4 finishes from the regular season and tournament in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer along with volleyball.
