BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College volleyball coach David Nicholson continues to strengthen the 2007 roster as he recently signed Monica Moreland of Louisville, Ky., and Danielle Singer of Rineyville, Ky.

"I am excited about having these two young ladies join our program," Nicholson said. "They will go a long way in making our team better as they will push the returning players for time on the court."

Moreland, a 5-foot-5 setter, helped Butler High to a 25-6 overall record and the 20th District Championship, earning team MVP honors as well as awards for as best setter, best defense and best serve. Twice named to the All-Tournament Team, Morehead was a three-time All-District selection.

Singer, 5-foot-7 setter, helped John Hardin High to a 13-9 overall record. An All-Area Honorable Mention, Singer was picked up the team's setting award during her junior and senior seasons.

Union ended the 2006 campaign with a 21-17 overall record and went 12-6 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, placing fourth in both the regular season and in the conference tournament.
