ROME, Ga. - No. 22 Union College was defeated 5-1 at No. 17 Shorter (Ga.) College Thursday to snap the Lady Bulldogs' nine-match winning streak.

The Lady Bulldogs' record went to 10-2 in 2009. Shorter owns a 9-9 record after the day.

The lone victory was a doubles' point won by Katie Sakalauskas (Surrey, Canada) and Andressa Coelho (Santa Maria, Brazil). The duo improved to 7-1 when teamed together.

The match was stopped with three matches left on the court in which Union was leading in two.

The road trip continues when the Lady Bulldogs battle No. 16 Xavier (La.) University at 1 p.m. Friday in Rome, Ga.
