ROME, Ga. - No. 22 Union College was swept for the first time this season when No. 16 Xavier (La.) University posted a 5-0 score in a match played at Berry (Ga.) College's Walt Attaway Tennis Complex Saturday.

The Lady Bulldogs went to 10-3 while Xavier moved to 15-5. The defeat was the second straight for Union and is the first time the Lady Bulldogs have dropped two in a row since a four-match skid last season.

Before the match started Union was already behind 2-0 due to playing with only five players. Xavier only needed one point when singles' play started and it came in straight sets.

Union returns to action Tuesday at NCAA Division II foe Carson-Newman (Tenn.) College. The match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
