
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - Emily Yaeger lowered her Union College 200-meter dash record Saturday at the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Invitational. Union had two finishes in the Top 5 including Yaeger's run.
The freshman from Dry Ridge, Ky. covered the 200 meters in 27.84 seconds. The time was the fourth fastest. She needed one minute and 6.15 seconds in the 400.
Martika Wills (Clarksville, Tenn.) posted a third-place run in the 100 thanks to a 13.33-second performance. She later finished the 200 in 28.30 seconds.
Rachel Underwood (Bremen, Ky.) threw the shot put 27 feet and 11 1/2 inches and tossed the discus 63 feet and 4 inches.
The Lady Bulldogs were 14th in the team standings and a point away from Mars Hill (N.C.) College. Centre (Ky.) College won the team championship.
Next for Union is the Appalachian Athletic Conference championship which will be a part of the Western Carolina Invitational in Cullowhee, N.C. Thursday and Friday.
