CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Union College ended up third at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Track and Field Championship Friday. Three school records were broken during the meet along with an individual AAC champion.

Rachel Underwood (Breman, Ky.) won the conference shot put thanks to a throw of 29 feet and 4.75 inches. The performance is a new school record. She threw the discus 75 feet and 7 inches to finish second. Underwood added three more points in the javelin.

Martika Wills (Clarksville, Tenn.) accounted for a total of 10 points during the event. She posted a school-record time of 12.88 seconds in the 100-meter dash followed by another program record in the 200 at 26.75 seconds.

Kasey Powell (Mt. Vernon, Ky.) added four points in the shot put along with two more in both the discus and javelin.

Union's 32 points were third behind champion King (Tenn.) College and a total of 136. Milligan (Tenn.) College posted 94 points to finish as the runner up. The third-place finish is the best in the modern era of women's track and field at Union. The last two squads finished in fourth.
