KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Union College dropped a spot from ninth to tenth in the latest 2009 NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches National Poll, the organization released Sunday. Also the 24 qualifying teams for the 2009 NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship were named, including Union.

Union received 243 votes behind a perfect 16-0 record to land tenth. Graceland (Iowa) University jumped from tenth to ninth after gathering 251 votes.

The Bulldogs are one of two teams in the Top-25 poll with an undefeated record. No. 12 Bethel (Tenn.) College stands at 10-0.

The poll was the seventh and last regular-season poll for 2009.

Union has not played since winning the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament championship on April 25, a 5-0 win over Tennessee Wesleyan College.

Auburn (Ala.) University Montgomery was voted No. 1 again with all 13 first-place votes. It is the seventh straight poll Auburn Montgomery has been at the top.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical (Fla.) University and Fresno Pacific (Calif.) University both moved up a spot to second and third, respectively. California Baptist University slipped from second to fourth and Concordia (Calif.) University remained fifth.

No teams jumped into the Top-25 with nine teams remaining put from the last poll released April 21.

Union joins 23 other teams for the NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship to be contested in Mobile, Ala. starting May 12. The Bulldogs were one of the 16 teams to receive an automatic bid for winning a conference championship. Eight teams were added as at-large selections.

The Bulldogs defeated a team that qualified, Xavier (La.) University, earlier this season. Union swept Xavier 5-0 in a match contested in Rome, Ga. on April 11. In the last two NAIA Men's Tennis National Championships, Union made a run to reach the Sweet 16 each year.

The bracket will be announced Monday.
