KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Union College place four players on the 2009 Appalachian Athletic Conference All-Conference Baseball Team, the league announced recently.

Seniors Chaz Bargo (Artemus, Ky.), Josh Ehringer (Somerset, Ky.) and Joe Grinstead (Bowling Green, Ky.) along with junior Troy Sitton (Cobden, Ill.) made the squad for the Bulldogs.

This marks the second year in a row for Ehringer and Grinstead to make the squad. Also, Ehringer was the AAC Freshman of the Year in 2006.

Bargo, a right-handed pitcher, owns a 10-1 record with a 3.80 earned-run average, five complete games, two shutouts and one save. In 71 innings of work, Bargo has struck out 51 and walked 27. Opponents are hitting just .252 against him this season.

Ehringer, who plays right field, leads the team in hitting (.440 average), doubles (14), home runs (10), RBIs (62) and slugging percentage (.717). Ehringer also owns a .503 on-base percentage with 21 walks and six hit-by pitches. He has stolen 11 bases in 13 tries and scored 53 times.

Grinstead, the Bulldog second baseman, is batting .435 with 12 doubles, four triples, seven four-baggers and 57 RBIs. He has scored 62 times this season and swiped 30 bases. He recently tied the school record for walks in a game with four and leads the team with 45 on the year. Grinstead leads the team with a .565 on-base percentage.

Sitton, who plays first base, is batting .400 with 13 doubles, eight home runs and 56 RBIs. In addition, he has scored 43 runs and leads the team with 20 hit-by pitches as he boasts a .492 on-base percentage.

In addition to the All-Conference Team honors, six other Bulldogs were named to Academic All-Conference Team. The honorees are Drew Chamberlain (Cumberland, Ky.), Lance Dougherty (Canyon, Texas), Cory Estep (Harlan, Ky.), Brandon Hedrick (Corbin, Ky.), Tyler Martin (Corbin, Ky.) and Ryan Satterlee (Youngstown, Ohio).

Union is ranked No. 14 in the NAIA and is 42-9 overall. The Bulldogs are currently playing in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament in Kingsport, Tenn.
