
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Union College signed Wes Lamberson to be a part of the Bulldogs' cycling program starting with the 2009 season.
The newest Bulldog will graduate from Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tenn.
He won a Southeastern Racing Championship expert race recently and finished third in the expert division last season, his first in the league.
Lamberson trained in Colorado Springs, Colo. at the National Development Camp last summer.
He has participated in endurance races for six years and comes from a family of riders. His parents, Annette and Bob Lamberson are also endurance racers.
While racing with Union's cycling team, Wes will also be a part of the Union College honors program.
Union is coming off a fifth-place finish at the 2009 National Collegiate Cycling Association National Championship, the eighth-straight Top-6 finish at the event. Union also won the MidWest Collegiate Cycling Conference championship again, the fifth title since 2002.
