MOBILE, Ala. - No. 10 Union College suffered a season-ending 5-2 loss against No. 7 Savannah (Ga.) College of Art and Design Wednesday in the second round of the 2009 NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship.

The Bulldogs' 2009 campaign finishes at 17-1 and the one loss is the fewest in a season for Union in the modern era.

Union's second point came when Renardy Guelfi (Curitiba, Brazil) saw his opponent, Felix Missal, retire in the No. 2 singles' match. Guelfi was ahead 5-1 in the opening set. The freshman ended the 2009 season with a singles' record of 17-1 with a 16-0 mark in No. 2 singles' contests.

Juan Lorenzo (Barcelona, Spain) and Roscoe Moonieyan (East London, South Africa) won 8-4 over Missal and Mihai Draganescu to give Union a No. 3 doubles' point.

SCAD won singles' points in No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6 to clinch the victory. The Bees advance to play No. 2 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University in a quarterfinal contest Thursday.

Of the eight second-round matches, six were won 5-0 and all of the higher seeds advanced to Thursday's action.
