BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College senior Mallory Lavoy was recently named a 2009 Softball Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete the organization announced.
Lavoy, an outfielder from Temperance, Mich., became the fourth Lady Bulldog in program history to earn the honor. She is the first since 2006 when Kayla Singley was placed on the squad.
For the last three years Lavoy has been named to the Appalachian Athletic Conference All-Academic team.
Lavoy played and started in all of Union's 52 games this season and owned a .274 batting average with 26 runs scored. She also belted her first collegiate home run and drove in 13 runs.
She was one of five AAC players named to the team.
To be honored, a player must be a sophomore, junior or senior with at least a 3.50 GPA.
