ATHENS, Ga. – The Union College cycling team stepped out of the Midwest Collegiate Cycling Conference to race at the University of Georgia last weekend.

Zach Winn (Ontario, Canada) was pacing the field in the men’s expert cross country until a flat tire slowed him up. Thanks to the large lead, Winn was able to repair the tire and finish third.

Greg Gibson (Salt Lake City, Utah) finished fifth in the expert cross country race while Zac Moore (Loveland, Ohio) also finished fifth in his B-class race. Steven Childers (Jenkins, Ky.) performed well in the C-class with a second place finish.

On the women’s side, Amy Russell (Monticello, Ky.) and Karen Caldwell (Bristol, Tenn.) crossed the line in third and fourth, respectively in B-class cross country.

Head coach Chuck Coffey commented that Josh Thomas (Lexington, Ky.) and Clay Steiger (Chattanooga, Tenn.) continued to improve while in Athens.

Union will return to action at the University of Michigan on September 29 and 30.
