
HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – After holding the 18-hole lead, Union College fired a final-round 309 to finish fourth at the Montreat (N.C.) College Invitational played at the Crooked Creek Golf Club.
NCAA Division II schools North Greenville (S.C.) University and Brevard (N.C.) College took first and second place. Tennessee Wesleyan College came in third and first within the Appalachian Athletic Conference Fall Tournament played within the Montreat Invitational with Union fourth overall and second in the conference standings.
The Bulldogs finished with a two-day total of 609, eight shots behind Tennessee Wesleyan College. Milligan (Tenn.) College and UVa.-Wise followed at 619.
Craig Hinton (Thame Oxon, England) fired a second-round 77 to finish tied for second in the individual standings with his two-day total of 146, the highest finish for a Bulldog,
Adam LaTulippe (Hamilton, Ohio) posted Union’s lowest final round as he finished with a 75 while Sam Lee (Knoxville, Tenn.) followed with a 79.
The medalist honor went to Casey Fleniken from Tennessee Wesleyan with his one-under-par, 143 two-day total.
The Bulldogs will return to action at the Union College vs. University of the Cumberlands Challenge on October 12.
