BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College head tennis coach Daniel Finn recently added Nicolas Ernst to the Bulldogs' roster.
Ernst, a native of Spaichingen, Germany, comes to Union from Fresno Pacific (Calif.) University after going 12-0 as a sophomore. He was also a member of Fresno Pacific's NAIA National Championship in May. His double's record was 12-3 at Fresno Pacific.
Before Fresno Pacific, he was ranked fourth in the California Community College standings at Fresno City. Ernst helped lead Fresno City to a No. 2 ranking among CCC teams in 2008.
"Nicolas will be a huge asset to our team this season," Finn commented. "He will bring some good experience to our young team this year and have an immediate impact."
Union finished the 2009 campaign with a 17-1 record after reaching the round of 16 at the NAIA National Championship for the third straight season. The 17 wins to start the season mark a program record for consecutive wins. Union also won the Appalachian Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships.
