ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Union College placed fourth in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll released Monday by the league.

Union garnered 35 points, two behind third-place Milligan (Tenn.) College. Bryan (Tenn.) College took all seven first-place votes to claim the preseason favorite role. Montreat (N.C.) College followed in second.

AAC newcomer Reinhardt (Ga.) College landed in fifth followed by Tennessee Wesleyan College. Bluefield (Va.) College and Virginia Intermont College were picked seventh and eighth, respectively.

Union compiled a 10-5-4 overall record last season including a 3-3-1 conference record. The Bulldogs finished sixth in the league's standings and Tyler Brock brought home the AAC Coach of the Year award. Union lost in the opening round of the AAC Tournament in a shootout.

King (Tenn.) College, the 2008 AAC Tournament winner, left the conference to become a NCAA Division II member. Covenant (Ga.) College reached the 2008 AAC Tournament championship match, however Covenant also left to join NCAA Division III.

The 2009 season starts for Union with the Golden Corral Bulldog Classic August 28 and 29 in Barbourville. The Bulldogs will play Johnson Bible (Tenn.) College August 28 at 1 p.m. The classic's championship and consolation matches follow on August 29.
