NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Union College started the 2009 cross country season at the Belmont (Tenn.) University Opener Friday.
Daniel Kual (Stone Mountain, Ga.) was the highest finishing Bulldog in 55th. He covered the course in 17 minutes and 54.09 seconds.
Eric Kinman (Erlanger, Ky.) followed at 18:15.25 with Brad Fieldhouse (Louisville, Ky.) next finishing at the 19:11.25 mark. Markus Rice (Batesville, Miss.) came across the line in 23:50.25.
On the women's side, Cassy Kost (Owensboro, Ky.) ran 20:29.78.
Middle Tennessee State University won the men's team standings over Belmont and Vanderbilt (Tenn.) University captured the women's team title.
The event was contested at Percy Warner Park. The men's race covered 5,000 meters while the women went 4,000.
Union travels to the Queen City Cross Country Invitational Saturday, Sept. 12.
