BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College's Brooke Vinovich was selected as the Appalachian Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Vinovich, a senior from Somerset, Ky., recorded 10 kills in the Lady Bulldogs' AAC 3-0 victory against UVa-Wise Friday to start conference play. Her 10 kills came in 13 attempts giving her a 0.769 hitting percentage which is a career high.

Earlier in the week at King (Tenn.) College, a NCAA provisional Division II member, Vinovich had nine kills.

For the week, Vinovich hit 0.514 and averaged 2.4 kills per set. She also totaled two digs with one assisted block in the two matches.

She is the third Lady Bulldog to earn a weekly honor from the AAC this season. Her only other AAC weekly honor came last season with the player of the week award in Sept.

Union, at 4-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play, will host Virginia Intermont College Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. AAC contest.
