
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Marcela Salum put Union College in front and then scored again with a game-winning goal in overtime to give the Lady Bulldogs a 2-1 victory over the University of the Cumberlands Wednesday.
Salum (Guatemala City, Guatemala) scored in the sixth minute after she headed in a corner kick provided by Renata Peixoto (Brasilia, Brazil).
At the 97:20 mark, Salum struck again with her second game-winning goal of the season to give Union the win. She received the ball from Hannah Goins (Corbin, Ky.).
Cumberlands used a Leslie Allred goal to tie the match with eight minutes left. Davin Caudill provided the assist.
The win sent Union's record to 5-0 while Cumberlands went to 2-2.
In goal for Union, Patricia Nardy (Sao Paulo, Brazil) recorded 13 saves. Cumberlands' Britney Gadd had nine saves of her own.
Union opens Appalachian Athletic Conference play Sept. 23 with a trip to Bryan (Tenn.) College. The match is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
