BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College slipped to third in the latest edition of the Southeastern Collegiate Cycling Conference Division II standings going into a weekend of racing in the mountains of North Carolina.
Weather cut short last weekend's action at Appalachian State (N.C.) University which limited Union's scoring opportunities. The Bulldogs scored 30 points to give the squad 342 this season. Warren Wilson (N.C.) College remains first with 547 points as Brevard (N.C.) College jumped to second with 394 points.
Zach Winn (Port Hope, Canada) slipped and now trails Warren Wilson's Linden Blaisus by 15 points, 558-543. Winn has lost 13 points over the last two weekends.
Brad Nelson (Carmel, Ind.) and Wes Lamberson (Limestone, Tenn.) swapped spots with Nelson moving up to fifth and Lamberson down to sixth. Nelson owns a four-point advantage over Lamberson. Greg Gibson (Provo, Utah) owns ninth.
On the women's side, Rachel Millsop (Springdale, Ark.) did not compete at Appalachian State and she fell from third to sixth. Warren Wilson's Rebecca Parish maintained her omnium lead with 820 points.
For the third straight weekend Union will travel to North Carolina for the races at Brevard College. The weekend at Brevard is the last of the regular season before the SECCC Championship Oct. 3-4 at Clemson (S.C.) University.
