CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Union College recorded its best finish in program history as the Lady Bulldogs placed second at the Green River Classic at Phillips Lanes in Campbellsville, Ky., Saturday.

"We are very excited about this outcome," said Union coach Matt Mahony. "We are looking to take this and build on it as we get ready for the rest of the season. We don't want to just be satisfied with this result; we want to continue to improve."

During the qualifying round, Union compiled a total pin fall of 3,622 to put it second behind St. Catharine (Ky.) College, which rolled a 3,866. The Lady Bulldogs posted a 2,403 total pin fall during the  16 Baker Games, putting them only 44 shy of St. Catharine.

St. Catharine held on for the victory with a total pin fall of 6,313 with Union posting a score of 6,025.

Sophomore Haley McDowell (Lexington, Ky.) led Union with a sixth-place finish with a total score of 768. Christy King (Hendersonville, Tenn.) had the best individual game for Union as she rolled a 183.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action on Oct. 31-Nov. 1 when they will participate in the Brunswick Southern Collegiate Classic in Marietta, Ga.
