
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College's Monica Moreland and Amanda Silva picked up Appalachian Athletic Conference weekly honors once again, the organization announced Monday. Moreland was named the AAC Player and Setter of the Week once again while Silva was the conference's libero of the week.
Moreland (Louisville, Ky.) has three player of the week with two setter honors this season. For the week, she averaged 11.1 assists per set in Union's 12 sets. Moreland had 40 assists in Union's only AAC match in the week, at Reinhardt (Ga.) College. The junior recorded her 11th double-double with 34 assists and 15 digs
against the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.). She also served a season-best five aces at Pikeville (Ky.) College. Moreland also had at least one kill in each match, giving her 10 straight matches with a kill.
Silva's (Londrina, Brazil) honor was the fourth time she's received the honor and the third straight. She averaged 4.9 digs per set during the week. Silva served at least one ace in Union's final three matches of the week. She also had her first kill of the season against Cumberlands.
Union went 4-0 during the week and all four matches were 3-0 sweeps. The wins boosted Union to a 15-3 record overall with a 7-1 AAC record. The Lady Bulldogs will take an eight match winning streak to Tennessee Wesleyan College for Tuesday's AAC match at 7 p.m.
