BLUEFIELD, Va. - Union College posted another 3-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference sweep at Bluefield (Va.) College Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs pushed their winning streak to 11 and eight straight sweeps.

Union used scores of 25-11, 25-17 and 25-10 in the three sets. The win improved the Lady Bulldogs to 18-3 overall and 10-1 in league play. Bluefield slipped to 4-4 in the AAC and 5-15 overall.

Amelia Cantrell (Georgetown, Ky.) tied her career high with 13 kills in 20 attempts. Maddie Peterson (Soda Springs, Idaho) added a half dozen kills.

Monica Moreland (Louisville, Ky.) posted another double-double with 38 assists and 10 digs. Amanda Silva (Londrina, Brazil) served three aces to go with her 15 digs.

Union returns to Robsion Arena for a Tuesday contest against Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College starting at 7 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs started 2009 with a 3-0 win at Lindsey Wilson. Union carriers an 18 match winning streak inside Robsion Arena into the match.

  • Moreland has eight matches with at least 35 assists this season.
  • The last nine meetings between Union and Bluefield have gone to the Lady Bulldogs.
  • Union has won at least 10 AAC matches in seven of the eight seasons as a member of the league.
