BRISTOL, Va. - Union College swept Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Virginia Intermont College Friday 3-0 in a road contest to extend a winning streak to 13 straight wins.

The win sent Union's record to 20-3 overall and 11-1 in league play. The last 11 victories in the streak of 13 have all been 3-0 sweeps. The Lady Bulldogs' 20 wins is also the ninth time in program history Union has won 20 or more. Virginia Intermont slipped to 3-21 overall with a 1-12 AAC record.

Amanda Silva (Londrina, Brazil) served a season-best six aces. She also was credited with 10 digs.

Monica Moreland (Louisville, Ky.) had 26 assists to go with 10 digs and three aces.

Autumn Combs (Florence, Ky.) led the attack with eight kills in 11 attempts while Amelia Cantrell (Georgetown, Ky.) added six kills.

Union will host Bryan (Tenn.) College for a key AAC contest in the stretch run towards the league championship Tuesday at 7 p.m. Bryan, at 8-0 in the AAC, took the first meeting 3-2 in Dayton on Sept. 22. The Lady Bulldogs will take a 19 match winning streak at home into the contest.

Lady Bulldog Notes

  • Union's seniors became the first class with 100 wins in a four-year span while a member of the Lady Bulldogs' program.
  • Four of the nine 20-win seasons in program history have been since 2006.
  • The Lady Bulldogs went to 10-4 against Virginia Intermont in AAC play.
  • Union has won 10 straight matches against teams from Virginia.
