Union atop standings at nationals after day one

TRUCKEE, Calif. - Union College rode to the front of the USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships Friday thanks to four Top-10 finishes in the cross country race.

Union owns a slim two point lead, 158-156, over Montana State University in the team standings.

Zach Winn (Port Hope, Canada) and Greg Gibson (Provo, Utah) finished second and third, respectively, in the race to lead the Bulldogs' march. Wesley Lamberson (Limestone, Tenn.) posted a ninth-place finish.

Rachel Millsop (Springdale, Ark.) made it to the podium thanks to a fourth-place ride on the women's side.

Saturday's schedule will feature the short track races.
