
BLUEFIELD, Va. - A second-half score from Tyler Baker provided Union College a 1-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory at Bluefield (Va.) College Saturday.
Baker, a junior from Burlington, Ky., found the ball in front of the net 12 yards out and booted it home in the 60th minute. The unassisted goal was his second of 2009.
Jonathan Shaw (Merseyside, England) recorded four saves for his sixth shutout in 2009.
Union had to adjust as the squad was without Jonathan Sutton (Portsmouth, England). Sutton missed the contest due to an injury.
The Bulldogs improved to 8-3-1 overall and 3-1-1 in league matches. Bluefield slipped to 4-9-1 which includes a 0-4 AAC record.
Union will host Tennessee Wesleyan College for a 4 p.m. AAC match Monday.
