PIKEVILLE, Ky. - Union College reeled off 21 fourth-quarter points to pull off a 21-6, come-from-behind victory over host and Mid-South Conference East rival Pikeville (Ky.) College Saturday.

The win upped the Bulldogs' overall record to 4-3 and conference mark to 3-2. The Bears dropped to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Trailing 6-0 going into the final period, sophomore quarterback Mike Brinkley (Anthony, Fla.) hurled three touchdown passes to lift Union to the 21-6 win. The first came with 13:31 remaining when he hit Tim Dandy (Ocala, Fla.) for a 23-yard strike to cap a seven-play, 61-yard drive. After Chad Boyington (Stockbridge, Ga.) added the extra point, the Bulldogs led 7-6.

The Bulldog defense then forced the Bears to go three and out on their next possession, forcing them to punt. After short punt and a seven-yard return by Bert Brown (Daytona, Fla.) gave Union the ball on its own 49 with 11:36 left.

Union slowly moved the ball down the field, needing nine plays to place it on the Pikeville 22. Brinkley then hooked up with Rob Brown (Daytona, Fla.) for a 22-yard touchown pass, giving Union a 14-6 lead with 6:17 to play.

On the first play from scrimmage on Pikeville's next possession, Willie Oliver (Raiford, Fla.) stripped the ball from Martrey Littlejohn, and Jacob Crothers (Fort Thomas, Ky.) recovered it to give Union the ball on the Pikeville 27.

Three plays later, Brinkley hit P.J. Burrowes (Middlesboro, Ky.) for an eight-yard touchdown pass to stretch the margin to 21-6 with 4:56 to go.

The Bulldog offense did not get going until the fourth quarter. Even though Union outgained Pikeville 286-247 in total offense and held possession of the ball for 30 minutes and 37 seconds, Union tallied 140 yards of total offense and had the ball for 12:10 in the fourth quarter alone. The Bulldogs held possession for just 12:46 in the entire first half.

Brinkley finished the game completing 13-of-31 passes for 138 yards and three scores, marking the 10th time in 19 career games he has thrown three touchdowns. Brinkley also led the team in rushing with 46 yards on seven carries.

As a team, the Bulldogs rushed for 148 yards, making it the first time in 17 games that they had more rushing yards than passing yards. The last time this happened came on Sept. 20, 2008, when Union ran for 334 yards and passed for 183 in a 23-13 win at Faulkner (Ala.) University.

Burrowes led the team with three catches for 22 yards and a score, giving him six touchdowns on the year.

Defensively, Crothers was the star for Union as he recorded six total tackles with five solos, recovered two fumbles, forced one fumble and intercepted a pass.

Chase Ellis gave Pikeville a 6-0 lead with a five-yard run with 1:59 remaining in the third quarter. The extra-point kick was no good.

The Bears rushed for 187 yards on 43 carries. Littlejohn led the way with 126 yards on 19 attempts. Ellis added 42 yards on 14 tries. Ellis also completed 7-of-17 passes with two interceptions for 60 yards.

Union returns home Saturday to play host to Shorter (Ga.) College at 1:30 p.m. The game will be Union's Homecoming as well as Senior Day for the Bulldogs.
