
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Junior goalkeeper Jonathan Shaw nabbed the Appalachian Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week Monday after posting back-to-back shutouts for Union College last week.
The Bulldogs went 1-0-1 last week with a double-overtime, 0-0 tie at Montreat (N.C.) College and a 1-0 win at Bluefield (Va.) College.
Shaw (Merseyside, England) recorded a career-high 17 saves in playing all 110 minutes of the double-overtime, 0-0 tie at Montreat. He followed that up with a four-save blanking at Bluefield.
On the season, Shaw is 8-3-1 overall with six shutouts and a 0.861 goals-against average, having allowed 10 goals in 1,045 minutes of action. He also has made 57 saves this season.
Additionally, Shaw ranks second all-time in program history with 11 career shutouts.
Union is 8-3-1 overall and 3-1-1 in conference play.
