KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Junior goalkeeper Jonathan Shaw earned the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week Monday after posting back-to-back shutouts for Union College last week.
The marks the second time in his career Shaw received this honor. He nabbed the award in November of 2008 after posting back-to-back shutouts against Montreat (N.C.) College.
Coincidentally, Shaw (Merseyside, England) collected this week's honor after posting back-to-back shutouts, one of which was a 17-save, double-overtime performance at Montreat.
The 17 saves are a career high for Shaw, who also made four saves in a 1-0 victory at Bluefield (Va.) College last week.
On the season, Shaw is 9-3-1 overall with six shutouts and a 0.952 goals-against average, having allowed 12 goals in 1,135 minutes of action. He also has made 60 saves this season.
Union returns to action on Oct. 28 when it plays host to King (Tenn.) College at 4 p.m.
