KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Union College picked up a vote in the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll after not receiving any for the past few weeks, the NAIA announced Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs (22-3 overall, 13-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference) is tied for 41st with five other schools.

Union is currently on a 15-match winning streak with 12 of the last 13 victories coming by a 3-0 sweep.

For only the fourth time during the 2009 season, the top-five teams have remained intact in the NAIA Top 25 Poll. Fresno Pacific earned all 24 possible first-place votes for 684 points for the No. 1 spot for the 32nd-consecutive week. The Sunbirds are followed by No. 2 California Baptist, No. 3 Northwestern (Iowa), No. 4 Concordia (Calif.) and No. 5 Azusa Pacific (Calif.).

Not only did the top-five hold position in the eighth edition of the poll, but so did the teams ranked Nos. 6 - 15. Eight teams among the Nos. 16 - 25 spots adjusted. Bumping up three spots is Taylor (Ind.), from No. 20 to 17 after defeating then-No. 17 Indiana Tech and then-No. 18 Madonna (Mich.). With the loss, Madonna is now ranked 20th. Lewis-Clark State fell three spots from a week ago, from No. 21 to 24. The lone addition is the reappearance of Doane (Neb.) at No. 25. The Tigers had consistently been ranked among the Top 25 throughout the season, but fell off the charts last week and only received votes.

Tuesday's poll marked the first time since the preseason poll on Aug. 18, the Golden State Athletic Conference has reclaimed four teams of the top-five spots in the poll. With four top-five clubs and three more, No. 10 Vanguard (Calif.), No. 11 Biola (Calif.) and No. 14 Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) scattered throughout the poll, the GSAC totals seven ranked teams.

The season's No. 1 thus far, Fresno Pacific has yet to share a single first-place vote with any other team in the poll. Head coach Dennis Janzen has his team sporting a flawless record of 25-0 and is 14-0 in GSAC action. Most recently, the Sunbirds handled No. 10 Vanguard in four sets, 25-17, 21-25, 25-15, 25-18, on Thursday. League play continues for Fresno Pacific Tuesday, traveling to Hope International (Calif.) for its second go-around with the Royals. The first meeting of the season between these two programs on Sept. 22 saw the Sunbirds cruise to a straight-set victory and held Hope International to under 18 points in each of the three sets.

California Baptist is ranked second for the fourth-consecutive week, earning 662 points. The Lancers have sole possession of second place in the GSAC with a 12-2 record and are 22-2 overall. Head coach Ryan McGuyre's team has won six-straight matches, including three over top-15 opponents, dating back to Oct. 3, when the Lancers fell in five tight sets to Fresno Pacific. With the second half of the conference schedule underway, the rematch with the Sunbirds is looming in the distance on Nov. 7. The Lancers will look to improve their league record on Tuesday against 10th-ranked Vanguard and on Saturday at No. 11 Biola.

Northwestern, ranked third with 640 points, is the only non-GSAC team to reign among the top five. The Red Raiders own an impressive 29-2 overall record and are 15-0 against Great Plains Athletic Conference opponents. Northwestern faced off against the No. 2 GPAC squad and 18th-nationally ranked Morningside (Iowa) on Saturday and cruised to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-21) victory to clinch its second-straight conference regular season championship. Kyle Van Den Bosch's club will close out the regular season on the road against Dordt (Iowa) on Saturday.

Concordia is ranked fourth this week with 618 points after winning a pair of GSAC matches last week. The Eagles swept Hope International 25-14, 25-23, 25-20 to open the week's action, but needed four sets (18-25,23-25,25-23,22-25) to dismantle unranked Westmont (Calif.) on Saturday. At 23-4, 10-4 GSAC, Concordia is tied for third in the league ranks with Azusa Pacific. These two will not meet again until Nov. 14, in a match that could be a key deciding factor for the conference. On the schedule this week for the Eagles is a Tuesday date with The Master's (Calif.) in Irvine, followed by a Saturday contest at No. 1 Fresno Pacific.

Azusa Pacific is spending a second-straight week at the No. 5 spot with 591 points. The Cougars won both of their matches last week, posting a 3-0 sweep of San Diego Christian (Calif.) and a 3-1 win over No. 14 Point Loma Nazarene. Sporting a 19-7 season record, including a 10-4 GSAC mark, Azusa Pacific is tied with Concordia in the league standings. The Cougars will collide with a pair of top-10 teams this week, first hosting No. 11 Biola on Tuesday, followed by a trip to No. 10 Vanguard on Saturday.

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences. The next poll will be announced on Nov. 3.

Union returns to the court Thursday when it plays host to King (Tenn.) College at 6:30 p.m.
