PIPPA PASSES, Ky. - Union College notched it first road win of the season as it held off host Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College for a 77-73 victory Tuesday.
The win improved Union's record to 6-7 overall, while Alice Lloyd is now 3-7.
The Bulldogs took charge early on and owned a 38-23 halftime lead. However, the Eagles stormed back and led by four with three minutes remaining.
Union regrouped and battled back for the 77-73 win.
Payton Ponzer (Independence, Ky.) led Union with 22 points, while Darrel Jackson (Jonesboro, Ark.) knocked in 21. Beau Brown (Athens, Tenn.) chipped in 15 points and eight rebounds with Josh Hurd (Independence, Ky.) added 12 points.
Brandon Hayes paced Alice Lloyd with 21 points. Meanwhile, Nick Brumback, the Eagles' top scorer, was limited to eight points.
Union returns home Thursday to play host to Kentucky Christian University at 7:30 p.m.
