BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Still searching for its first win of the season, Union College will square off against longtime Mid-South Conference rivial Cumberland (Tenn.) University Saturday at Burch/Nau Field in an interdivisional showdown.

Union is 0-5 overall and 0-2 in MSC East play, while Cumberland enters the contest with a 1-3 overall mark and a 0-1 MSC West record.

Cumberland is fresh off its first win of the season, a 35-7 decision over first-year program Faulkner (Ala.) University. Union returns home following a rough three-game road stint as it lost all three. Last week, Shorter (Ga.) College handed Union a 41-17 defeat.

Union and Cumberland played each other every year from 1990-2004 (with the exception of 2001 due to the events of Sept. 11), and Cumberland leads the series with an 8-6 mark. The series went on hiatus following the 2004 season due to the fact the Mid-South Conference split into two divisions, pitting Union and Cumberland on opposite sides. Union won five of the first six meetings before Cumberland took the next seven. However, Union won the last meeting with a 48-25 decision.
