BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College is predicted to finish fourth in the Appalachian Athletic Conference this season, according to the AAC Coaches' Preseason Poll released recently.
The Lady Bulldogs received one first-place vote and 68 total points to place fourth in the poll.
Milligan (Tenn.) College is the favorite to win the league, having garnered five first-place votes and 84 points, three more than UVa-Wise which received four first-place votes.
Montreat (N.C.) College got no first-place votes but racked up 73 points to come in third.
Reinhardt (Ga.) College got 57 votes to round out the top five.
Making up the rest of the field are Tennessee Wesleyan College (48 points), Virginia Intermont College (47 points), Covenant (Ga.) College (35 points) and Bluefield (Va.) College (29 points).
Union went 27-25 overall and 8-8 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference last season. The Lady Bulldogs also advanced to the AAC Tournament championship game.
The Lady Bulldogs will open the 2010 campaign Feb. 13 when it will play host to NCAA Division II Bellarmine (Ky.) University at 1 p.m.
