BARBOURVILLE, Ky.- Union College handled business on Senior Night against visiting Montreat College in Appalachian Athletic Conference play, 97-60.

With the win the Bulldogs improve their record to 17-12 (10-5) while the Cavaliers fall to 3-25 (1-14) in the 2009-10 campaign.

Union dominated the Cavaliers in every facet of the ball game the entire evening. The Bulldogs forced Montreat into 10 turnovers in each half, converting their 20 miscues into 23 Bulldog points. The Bulldogs shot the lights out, going 37-of-62 (59.7 percent) while the Cavaliers only converted on 22-of-61 (36.1 percent) from the field. Union out-rebounded the Cavaliers 44 to 37 and the Bulldogs tallied 27 assists compared to only 11 from Montreat.

Montreat seemed to have found an answer down low through the solid early play of Christina Tonkins and forward Matt Rushing, combining for 14 first half points, but as the Cavaliers pushed, Union never looked back. The Bulldogs added a late field goal from Sophomore Payton Ponzer (Independence, Ky.) at the first half buzzer to take a 22 point lead into the locker room, 54-32.

The Bulldog lead never got lower than 19 points in the second half, thanks in part to Montreats struggles offensively, going 10-for-32 (31.3 percent) from the field in the half and 9-for 24 (37.5 percent) from the free throw line throughout the entire game.
