HENDERSON, Tenn. - Sophomore Brandon Hedrick turned in another solid pitching performance Friday, tossing a two-hit shutout as No. 16 Union defeated McKendree (Ill.) 12-0 in Henderson, Tenn.
With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 4-2 overall, while the Bearcats drop to 3-3 on the season.
Hedrick (Corbin, Ky.) went the distance in recording his second win of the season. He struck out six and walked two as well.
Freshman Tyler Brake (Burlington, Ky.) continues his hot hitting as he went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and two RBIs. Troy Sitton (Cobden, Ill.) went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a RBI. In the last four games, Sitton went 10-for-13 at the plate.
Also, Ryan Satterlee (Youngstown, Ohio) batted 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two stolen bases. He belted a two-run home run in the third for his fourth career home run as a Bulldog. Demetrius Davis (Marietta, Ga.) helped out with a 2-for-4 performance as he scored twice and drove in a pair.
Union scored two in the first, four in the second, two in third and four in the fourth while keeping McKendree of the scoreboard.
Union and McKendree will play again Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. The Bulldogs will also face host Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) at 3:30 p.m. ET.
