CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Union College split a pair of non-conference games this afternoon against Campbellsville University (RV) with the Lady Bulldogs taking game one, 3-0, and the Lady Tigers roaring back in game two, trouncing Union 16-0 (5 innings).

The split brings the Lady Bulldogs resume to 14-12 (6-4 AAC), while Campbellsville moves to 27-15 on the year.

Game one saw the action remain scoreless until sixth inning, when the Lady Bulldogs took a bite out of the Lady Tigers, pushing across three runs on five hits in the frame for what would account to be all the scoring in the opening contest.

Both Abby Sears (London, Ky.) and Ashley Tatman (Lexington, Ky.) got things rolling by smacking RBI singles in the frame, while Gina Loflin (Salisbury, N.C.) accounting for the third RBI on a sacrifice fly, putting Union up 3-0.

The late offensive outburst would be all the support Sarah Driver (Hopkinsville, Ky.) would need as the senior went the distance for the win, tossing her second consecutive shut-out.

Driver (8-5) halted the Lady Tigers attack to the tune of zero runs on seven hits, while striking out four Lady Tiger batters over seven innings. The Hopkinsville, Ky. native also tallied a hit in the contest to go along with her stellar pitching performance.

The Lady Tigers bit back in game two, however, drumming Union 16-0 in just five innings.

Emma Napier got things rolling early for Campbellsville as she belted a lead-off home run to start the game in the bottom of the first inning. From that point, the ball kept rolling as the Lady Tigers would plate eight runs in the first frame.

The Lady Bulldogs had no answers for Campbellsville the rest of the afternoon as Union was struck with another eight run inning outburst by the Lady Tigers offense in the third inning, putting Union down 16-0.

Ashley Tatman recorded the lone Lady Bulldog hit in the game in the top of the fifth inning, breaking up the perfect game bid for Campbellsville.

Abby Sears (6-5) shouldered the loss, giving up eight runs while going only two-thirds of an inning. Jessie Dunning (Bowling Green, Ky.) tossed the final three and a third innings in the losing effort.

The Lady Bulldogs return to the diamond on Tuesday as they will host conference foe Covenant College for a twinbill. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. at Union Field.
