BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced today that Sophomore Abby Sears (London, Ky.) has earned the most recent AAC Player of the Week honor.

The sophomore started all eight games, four in right field and four in the pitching circle, during the last seven days.

For the week, Sears accumulated a .435 batting average (10-for-23) to go along with three homeruns and 14 RBI's. Of her 14 runs batted in, seven came in a 9-0 drumming of King College at Union field on Saturday. The amazing seven RBI's is now a new Union College record.

Sears also tied the program record for homeruns in a game, ripping two jacks in a win over Bluefield College on Monday.

The London, Ky. native also swiped a base and slugged .826 for the week while leading the Lady Bulldogs to a 4-4 record en route to her weekly honor.

Union currently sits at 14-12 (6-4 AAC) on the year, with six contests in the upcoming week. The Lady Bulldogs return to the diamond tomorrow as they will play host to visiting Covenant College in AAC Conference action.

First pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m.
