MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. - No. 24 Union split the Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader with host Milligan (Tenn.) with both squads posting identical 3-1 decisions Saturday.

After the split, Union's record stands at 30-12 overall and 15-5 in conference play. Milligan is 26-13 overall and 14-6.

The three-game series will wrap up Sunday with a nine-inning tilt. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.

The Bulldogs used a three-run seventh inning rally to pull out the two-run victory in the opening game.

Milligan took a 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the fourth when Eric Oxley scored on a Wesley Jones sac fly.

It remained 1-0 until the seventh when Josh Longbrake (St. Cloud, Fla.) singled in a run to tie the game. Then, with the bases loaded, pinch-hitter Michael Adams (Tega Kay, S.C.) lined a two-run single to put Union up 3-1.

Brandon Hedrick (Corbin, Ky.) went the distance to get the win, improving to 8-0 on the season. It was his seventh complete game of the season as he gave up one earned run on three hits and four walks with six strikeouts.

Offensively, Longbrake went 3-for-3 with a RBI, while Adams drove in two. Brian Mouton (Oakland, Calif.) had a double in going 1-for-3.

Adam Snyder (Knoxville, Tenn.) tossed a complete game and fanned seven batters, but he was saddled with the loss as three Buffalo hurlers limited the Bulldogs to four hits in the 3-1 loss.

Milligan drew first blood when Kendall Williams stole home on a double steal in the bottom of the first. The Buffaloes grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third on a Dallas Crouch sac fly.

In the sixth, Union cut the margin to 2-1 when Ryan Satterlee (Youngstown, Ohio) stole home on a two-out double steal.

However, Brett Maddox belted a solo home run in the bottom of the frame to seal the 3-1 Milligan victory.

Snyder allowed three earned runs on five hits and two walks as he dropped to 5-2 on the season.

Demetrius Davis (Marietta, Ga.) had half of the Union's hit as he finished the day 2-for-4 at the plate.
