WALESKA, Ga. - Host Reinhardt (Ga.) collected four unearned runs in the first and never looked back, handing No. 25 Union a 5-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference loss Wednesday and dashing the Bulldogs' bid for an outright conference crown.

The loss puts Union 36-14 overall and 20-7 in the AAC, the same conference mark at Tennessee Wesleyan. Union and Tennessee Wesleyan are co-champions; however, Tennessee Wesleyan will be the No. 1 seed in conference tournament since it won two-of-three games from Union.

Reinhardt ends the regular season 26-22 overall and 14-12 in league play.

The conference tournament gets underway Friday in Kingsport, Tenn. Union will open play Saturday at 11 am.

Reinhardt grabbed the early advantage, scoring four unearned runs in the bottom of the first. The Bulldogs committed a pair of errors in the frame, leading to the Eagle runs.

It remained a 4-0 contest until the top of the fifth when Demetrius Davis (Marietta, Ga.) lined a two-out single to drive in Josh Longbrake (St. Cloud, Fla.) to make it a three-run margin.

However, Reinhardt tacked on an insurance run in the sixth and held on for the 5-1 victory.

Union was limited to seven hits with Brandon Hedrick (Corbin, Ky.) and Troy Sitton (Cobden, Ill.) both going 2-for-4 with a double.

Adam Snyder (Knoxville, Tenn.) suffered the loss to drop to 6-4 on the season. He gave up five runs, one earned, on six hits and three walks with six strikeouts in six innings of work.

Blaine Martin paced Reinhardt's offense as he went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Drew Tyson collected the win, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in going the distance.
