BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union Swimming program announced today the signing of Kyle Newhouse (Stone Mountain, Ga.) to its program for the upcoming 2010-11 swimming season.

The Georgia native brings 12 years of experience in the pool with him to the Bulldog program. Newhouse also helped lead Parkview High School program to back-to-back state championships (2005-07).

While in high school, Newhouse also swam for the Gwinnett Aquatics club team in the 200 freestyle, 1650 freestyle and the 400 individual medley events.

"I am extremely happy to have a swimmer of Kyle's caliber joining our program," commented head coach Rafael Forti. "He has competed at the national level twice already and has a lot of experience."

Forti went on to say, "he has a lot of potential in the middle and long distance freestyle events and will add a lot of depth to our long distance roster. I am expecting Kyle to help us right away and I know he will do well while swimming at Union."

After signing his letter of intent, Newhouse commented, "I want to build on my swimming abilities while being able to further my education. Union has a strong program and I am glad to be a part of it."
