CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Union men's and women's cross-country teams opened the 2010 season with a good showing at the Queen City Invitational Saturday.

The Lady Bulldogs placed 10th in the event with Cassy Kost (Owensboro, Ky.) posted a team-best finish of 23:17 to place 48th overall. After her, Amanda Merida (Barbourville, Ky.) was 61st, Brittany Rutherford (Middlesboro, Ky.) 62nd, Elizabeth Wheeler (Keystone Heights, Fla.) 63rd, and Lavin Hadley (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands) 65th.

There were 135 total runners in the women's race.

The Bulldogs had just four runners and didn't post a team score. Daniel Kual (Atlanta, Ga.) led the way with a 74th place with a time of 17:16. Eric Kinman (Erlanger, Ky.) was 83rd, while Bradley Fieldhouse (Louisville, Ky.) was 101st, and Zak Walker (Barbourville, Ky.) 114th.

There were 138 runners in the men's race.

Union will run again Saturday at the Berea (Ky.) Invitational in Berea, Ky.
