LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Union cross country squads competed at the Louisville (Ky.) Classic Saturday with the Bulldogs finishing 26th and the Lady Bulldogs taking 25th.
With over 100 teams competing, Louisville Classic was divided into three races. There were 29 teams in the race the Bulldogs ran in and 28 in the race the Lady Bulldogs participated in.
In the men's race, Daniel Kual (Atlanta, Ga.) set the pace for the Bulldogs with 65th-place finish as he completed the 8K race in 28:24.60. Eric Kinman (Erlanger, Ky.) was 86th with a time of 28:57.80, while Bradley Fieldhouse (Louisville, Ky.) crossed the line in 31:22.8 to finish 146th. Joey Landrum (Elsmer, Ky.) was 151st with a time of 31:29.90, and Zak Walker (Barbourville, Ky.) placed 174th with a finish of 34:21.40.
Cassy Kost (Owensboro, Ky.) led the Lady Bulldogs with a 95th-place finish, completing the 5K course with a time of 22:28.07. Lauren Johns (Stockbridge, Ga.) was next in line with a 125th finish with a time of 23:40.29, and Brittany Rutherford (Middlesboro, Ky.) posted a time of 25:49.73 for a 158th finish. Elizabeth Wheeler (Keystone Heights, Fla.) was 169th with a time of 27:34.77, while Lavin Hadley (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands) finished in 27:43.60 to place 171st.
Next up for the Union cross country teams is the Wilmington Fall Classic in Wilmington, Ohio, on Oct. 15.
