BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union Volleyball team split two matches on Saturday afternoon at Robison Arena, defeating AAC-foe Montreat, 3-2, while falling to Indiana University-East, 3-1. With the decisions, the Lady Bulldogs move to 14-10 overall on the season.

In the Montreat match, Union rallied from a 2-1 game deficit to hand Montreat their first loss of the season in the AAC (8-1). Union improved their record in the league to 6-1 with the win.

The Lady Bulldogs took game one 25-20, before falling to the Lady Cavaliers 25-17 and 25-22 in the next two games. Here, Union mounted their comeback, by taking a convincing 25-15 decision in game four. In the decisive fifth game, Union won 15-12 to complete the comeback and take the decision.

Overall, Karina Ramos (Presidente, Brazil) led the way with 16 kills, while Maddie Peterson (Soda Springs, Idaho) and Cat Neumann (Louisville, Ky.) each had nine kills apiece. Monica Moreland (Louisville, Ky.) recorded an impressive 29 assists, while Kalia Yasak (Kula, Hawaii) wasn't far behind in the assist department with 17.

Senior Amanda Silva (Londrina, Brazil) put together an impressive match with 23 digs and three aces. Meanwhile, sophomore Brooke Porter (Louisville, Ky.) and freshman Linsey Ellis (Florence, Ky.) each recorded 12 digs apiece in the thrilling victory.

In the squad's second match of the afternoon against unbeaten IU-East, the Lady Bulldogs failed to mount another comeback against a strong Red Wolves team, falling by scores of 21-25, 25-23, 14-15 and 17-25.

Overall, Moreland posted another strong effort with 19 assists and 10 digs, while Silva recorded 27 digs. In the kills department, junior Amelia Cantrell (Georgetown, Ky.) recorded 16 in the match, while Ramos picked up eight in the loss.

Union returns to action on Tuesday when they take on Virginia Intermont in an AAC contest at Robsion Arena. Action gets underway at 6:30 p.m.
