FROSTBURG, Md. - NCAA Division III Frostburg State (Md.) University reeled off 224 rushing yards as it handed visiting Union College a 28-7 defeat Saturday.
The loss dropped Union to 2-6 overall, while Frostburg State improved to 2-6.
Frostburg State outgained Union 352-295 in total offense despite fumbling the ball away twice. Union committed just one turnover, an interception by backup quarterback Kyle Callahan (Covington, Ky.).
Although they tallied over 200 yards rushing, the Bobcats did not have a 100-yard rusher. Wade Anton led the way with 90 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries.
Sophomore Terence Pollock (Orange Park, Fla.) led the Bulldog ground attack with 101 yards on 17 carries for his second 100-yard game of the season. In addition, he moved up two spots on the all-time leading rushing list as he now has 1,178 career yards, surpassing Danya Overton and Matt Pursel for seventh place in program history.
Frostburg State, which had scored just 63 points all season heading into the game, posted 14 first-quarter points en route to a 21-0 halftime lead. A six-yard scoring run by Young Shanorm maded it 28-0 with 7:07 left in the third.
Union finally cracked the scoring column in the fourth when Callahan hit Chris Collopy (Manchester, Ky.) for an 11-yard scoring pass with 5:51 to play.
Callahan completed 12-of-20 passes for 163 yards and a score.
Defensively for Union, Patrick O'Neal (Lula, Ga.) had 10 total tackles with one for a loss, giving him 97 tackles on the season. He needs just three more for his second 100-tackle season in a row.
Union returns home next weeked to play host to Mid-South Conference East rival UVa-Wise at 1:30 p.m.
