BARBOURVILLE, Ky.Joanel Legros (Haiti) scored four goals in his final match at Burch-Nau Field as the Union College men’s soccer team went onto a 9-0 win against Pikeville (Ky.) College Saturday on Senior Day.

The win evens Union’s record to 8-8-1 while Pikeville falls to 0-13. The eight-win season is the most for the Bulldogs since 2002 when union racked up 16 wins. Also, the nine goals are the most scored by Union since a 15-0 win over Pikeville in 2005.

Legros scored a pair of goals in each half to give him five on the season. His first goal came at the 12-minute mark on a penalty kick and added a score in the 24th minute. His four goals were the most scored by a Bulldog since fellow senior Tyler Stallons (Hopkinsville, Ky.) booted five goals against Pikeville in 2005.

Marc Pierre (Haiti) also notched a pair of second-half goals to go with an assist in the contest.

In the first half, Stallons added a goal in the 19th minute and Rahul Kooner (Surrey, Canada) scored shortly before the halftime break.

Jonathan Sutton (Portsmouth, England) scored Union’s other goal in the second half.

Seniors Jacob Zink (Florence, Ky.), Daniel Perez (Cali, Columbia) and Patrick Bueno (Greenville, S.C.) were credited with assists in the contest.

Next for Union is the first round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament at Montreat (N.C.) College Tuesday scheduled for a 3 p.m. start. Montreat, the AAC regular-season champs, defeated Union 2-1 Wednesday.
