Men's Cross Country - Sat, Oct. 20, 2007

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In the final tune up before the Appalachian Athletic Conference/NAIA Region XII Cross Country Championship, the Bulldogs of Union College finished tied for 14th in a competitive field at the Southeastern Classic Saturday.

Once again, senior Brandon Kibert (Tazewell, Tenn.) led the Bulldogs with a 29th place finish. Kibert covered the 8k course with a time of 27 minutes and 35 seconds. The next Bulldog across the finish line was Eric Kinman (Erlanger, Ky.) at the 28:36 mark in 56th place.

Brennan O’Quinn (Meadowview, Va.) and Daniel Kual (Stone Mountain, Ga.) were the next two Bulldogs to finish in 96th and 98th place, respectively. O’Quinn used a time of 29:51 while Kual was one second behind him.

Johnny Barnes (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and J.J. Hall (Elsmere, Ky.) rounded out Union’s squad with times of 35:20 and 36:12, respectively.

Union scored 375 points and tied with conference foe Covenant (Ga.) College for 14th. The Bulldogs finished in front of UVa-Wise, Berea (Ky.) College and Asbury (Ky.) College, all of which will be at next week’s AAC/Region XII Championship. The highest AAC team was Bryan (Tenn.) College in fourth with 112 points while King (Tenn.) College finished 13th, 36 points in front of Union.

No. 1 Malone (Ohio) College took the team title with 22 points, Union (Tenn.) University finished second, 47 points behind Malone with Cedarville (Ohio) University third.

Next for the Bulldogs is the AAC/Region XII Cross Country Championship at Sycamore Shoals State Park in Elizabethton, Tenn. Saturday, November 3. The men’s 8k race is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m.
