Union women's soccer goal keeper Patricia Nardy
was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference defensive player of the week for the second consecutive week on Monday.
Nardy (Sao Paulo, Brazil), a senior, earned her fourth shutout victory of the season in the Lady Bulldogs' 2-0 victory over Cincinnati Christian on Saturday. Nardy also stopped two shots in the win.
For the season, Nardy has posted a 1.38 goals against average and has made 104 saves.
The Union women's soccer team, who finished the regular season with an 11-6 overall record (5-1 in the AAC), opens the 2010 AAC women's soccer tournament on Saturday when they take on Montreat in the quarterfinals. Action gets underway at 12 noon at Burch-Nau Field.
